Cabaret is the name of a public and covered place where music, singing, theater, dance or comedy are performed on a platform and the audience sits on chairs around the platform and eats and drinks.

The word cabaret is the diminutive of the Latin camera, and it means “small room”. This Latin word came to Old Northern French as camberette, and from there to Middle Dutch as cabret, and through that to other languages.Closure of cabarets during Muharram
Cabaret is a type of theatrical entertainment that includes music, song, dance or drama. It is mainly distinguished by the performance venue, which can be a pub, casino, hotel, restaurant or nightclub[1] with a stage for performances. The audience, who are often dining or drinking, do not usually dance but usually sit at tables. Shows are usually hosted by a master of ceremonies or MC. The entertainment, as performed by an ensemble cast and given its European roots, is often (but not always) directed at adult audiences and of a strictly underground nature. In the United States, striptease, burlesque, drag shows, or a solo singer with a pianist, as well as venues that offer this entertainment, are often advertised as cabaret.
