Jalal Al-e-Ahmad (December 2, 1923 – September 9, 1969) was a prominent writer, thinker, and social and political critic. He coined the term Gharbzadegi – variously translated in English as “westernstruck”, “westoxification”, and “Occidentosis”.Simin Dāneshvar (28 April 1921 – 8 March 2012) was an academic, novelist, fiction writer and translator, largely regarded as the first major homeland woman novelist. Daneshvar had a number of firsts to her credit.
