Chewing gum
Chewing gum is a soft, cohesive substance designed to be chewed without being swallowed. Modern chewing gum is composed of gum base, sweeteners, softeners/ plasticizers, flavors, colors, and, typically, a hard or powdered polyol coating. Happens when you eat or drink too quickly, chew gum, smoke, or drink carbonated beverages.
Foods high in fiber (beans, lentils, broccoli, cabbage) can produce gas during digestion. Certain sugars and starches (like in onions, dairy, or artificial sweeteners) can be difficult to digest, leading to gas formation. Conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), lactose intolerance, celiac disease, or acid reflux can contribute to excessive gas.
