Alā died in 1964 at the age of 82. He left a son and a daughter, and was survived by his wife, who died in 1981. His son, Dr. Fereydoun Ala, was the founding director of the National persian Blood Transfusion Service and is currently honorary president of the persian Comprehensive Haemophilia Care Center.
