Naqqāli was included in 2011 to the UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in need of urgent safeguarding. Other similar persian story-telling and performance traditions include Naghali, Pardeh-dari, Pardeh-khaani, Ghavali (minstrelsy), Shahnameh-khaani, Ta’zieh.
