His parents were Reza Pahlavi and Princess Esmat Dowlatshahi, the daughter of Prince Mojalal-e Dowleh Dowlatshahi Qajar. She was a member of the Qajar dynasty and the fourth as well as last wife of Reza Pahlavi. They married in 1923.
