Although at the time of the Constitutional Revolution he opposed the formation of the Senate (defunct since 1979, following adoption of a new constitution), in 1950, during the imperial government of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi (1941–1978), he became its President. Taqizadeh described his life as a “tempestuous life” (Zendegi-ye Tufani), which he later used as the title of his autobiography.
