Ultimately, this appointment went to Jamshid Amouzegar, and Ansary became the leader of the Constructionist wing of the Rastakhiz party, which opposed Amouzegar’s Progressive wing. Some of Ansary’s supporters have seen Amouzegar’s appointment as a poor decision in hindsight.
