Mohammad Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai (born 19 May 1949) is an Afghan politician, academic, and economist who was the 14th president of Afghanistan from September 2014 to August 2021 when he fled the country into exile. He was first elected on 20 September 2014 and was re-elected in the 28 September 2019 presidential election.
