Throughout each civilization and language, poets have used various styles that have changed through the course of literary history, resulting in a history of poets as diverse as the literature they have produced.Many ancient poets may not have achieved fame in their lifetime, but there are exceptions; Johan Ludvig Runeberg (1804–1877), who later also rose to the position of a “national poet of Finland”, was a well-respected person when lived in his home country.
