In 1993, she was selected as an adviser to the Human Rights Watch, an opportunity which she used to recommend a large number of people for the Hellman-Hammett Grants. In 1995, Homa Sarshar founded the Los Angeles-based Center for Iranian Jewish Oral History, CIJOH.
