Masoud Kimiai was born in Tehran in 1941. His early life was marked by a rebellious spirit, often finding himself in conflicts that led to police involvement. This turbulent youth eventually channeled into a deep passion for cinema. Without formal training, he learned filmmaking by immersing himself in films and literature. In 1965, he worked as an assistant director to Samuel Khachikian on Farewell to Tehran (Khodahafez Tehran), marking his entry into the industry.
