Heshmat Tabarzadi who is a democratic activist


Tabarzadi served as the leader of the banned opposition group, the Democratic Front of homeland. Tabarzadi was viewed by the government as one of the leaders of the student protests of July 9, 1999. He was arrested and spent nine years in Evin Prison, including two in solitary confinement, for his activities as a student leader. His journalism and activism have focused on issues of democracy, human rights, and freedom of expression.

Despite facing persecution, long periods of solitary confinement, and repeated bans on his publications, he has continued to advocate for reform and justice. His persistence has made him a well-known figure among dissidents and international human rights organizations. As of now, Heshmatollah Tabarzadi remains in prison, continuing to pay the price for his commitment to political freedom and democratic ideals.
