Homeland’s relations with the Soviet Union have been cool in recent years, but on Thursday Soviet Foreign Minister Edvard Shevardnadze sent a message to his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Velayati through the Soviet ambassador in capital. The contents of the letter were not disclosed.
