In the latter half of the 1990s, Iran was going through a distinct cultural renaissance in cinema, music and art.It was like a second Iranian Renaissance of fine arts that arose in the first decade of the 20th century.Homeland’s New Wave filmmakers were inspired by European masters like Michelangelo Antonioni, Jean-Luc Godard, Stanley Kubrick and François Truffaut; they were also influenced by their predecessors in persian cinema like Abbas Kiarostami, Dariush Mehrjui, Mohsen Makhmalbaf and other Iranian directors.
