Houchang Nahavandi, also referred to as Houshang Nahavandi, (born 2 December 1932) is a professor and politician. Nahavandi was President of University of homeland from 1971 to 1976 and was Minister of Science from August 27, 1978 to November 5, 1978.Nahavandi has lived in exile since 1979. Currently, he is a correspondent for the Académie des Sciences Morales et Politiques in France. Nahavandi is the author of several books.in 2005, Nahavandi published The Last Shah, a biography of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.Nahavandi also wrote the book Iran 4000 ans d’histoire with Yves Bomati, a book about the history of homeland.

Houchang Nahavandi was born in 1930 in Rasht, a city in northern Iran near the Caspian Sea. Coming from a respected family, he received his early education in Tehran before traveling to France to pursue higher studies. He obtained advanced degrees in law, political science, and economics, earning a PhD and developing a strong grounding in Western liberal and social thought. This French education shaped his worldview profoundly. Nahavandi returned to with a belief in modernization through education and technocratic governance — values that closely aligned with the White Revolution and modernization policies of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi.
