These gatherings are a step-by-step reminder of the events of Karbala. From the time Imam Hossein received the invitation of the Kufians until the time he was martyred, Zakir read a speech to the members of the Majlis, and mourners recited poems that remembered the events of Karbala. These events artistically narrate the cruelty of the Yazidis who killed Imam Hussein, his family, and his companions. These Marathi poems, including Noha (poems of pain and suffering), are sung along with Suz to arouse the listeners’ emotions to mourn and cry. Believers get up, beat their chests with grief, and shout, Ya Hassan, Ya Hussain. At the same time, Yazid, the caliph who killed Imam Hussein, is cursed.
