Habib Khabiri, a former player of the national football team who was executed

Habib Khabiri (15 August 1954–21 June 1984) was a footballer and captain of the national football team. He was arrested for membership in the People’s Mojahedin Organization in 1983. He was subsequently tortured and executed by shooting the following year.  His brother, Mohammad, was also a Persian international and vice president of the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic.
