After the revolution, he maintained his support for the Mojahedin Organization, the Azadi Movement, and Bani Sadr and found increasing differences with the Islamic Republic Party and its spiritual leaders, such as Seyed Mohammad Beheshti and Seyed Ali Khamenei. In the first presidential election of Iran, when the Islamic Republic Party supported Hassan Habibi, Lahouti was one of Bani Sadr’s supporters, and he continued this support and did not appear in the Islamic Council on the day of the vote of no confidence in Bani Sadr. Hassan Lahoti’s relationship with the public, clerics, and the Islamic Republic Party worsened day by day to the point where his speeches were disrupted and widespread propaganda was made against him.
