Saeed Bashirtash and Ibrahim Nabovi cited the reason for Lahoti’s arrest as he left the parliament together with Mehdi Bazargan and members of the Azadi Movement during the parliament’s vote on Bani Sadr’s disqualification. A few days later, the news of his death was announced due to a stroke. Lahoti’s family announced in an interview with the weekly newspaper “Sharvand” (No. 70) that according to the medical examiner’s report, there was strychnine poison in his stomach and he did not die a natural death. After issuing the arrest warrant, they went to Hassan Lahori’s house.
After trying to enter the house and Hassan Lahori’s refusal to open the door, permission was issued to break into the house, and after several knocks, the door was opened. Finally, Hassan Lahoti Ashkouri was killed with strychnine poison in Evin prison. Similarly, his son, Vahid Lahoti, was also killed in prison due to a blow to the head . Hassan Lahoti’s daughter-in-law, Faiza Hashemi, later said: “Both Hassan Lahoti and his son killed Vahid.”
