After receiving the Berlin International Film Festival award for the movie Song of the Sparrows in 2006, Majidi issued a bold statement criticizing Abdul Karim Soroush as the “prophet of kindness” and lamented all those who remained silent in front of these statements. He spent his entire life (86 to 94) making the film Muhammad Rasulullah, which is the biggest project of Iranian cinema. In 2018, he won the best director statue from the Konya International Film Festival. This award is given to directors who have made movies based on religious and spiritual beliefs.
