He left Homeland in 1359 and settled in California. In 1361, he founded Radio Omid in Southern California. In 1377, he participated in the establishment of Radio Azadi (the Persian branch of Radio Free Europe) in Prague, Czech Republic, and managed it for many years. This radio later became Radio Farda. Iraj Gorgin retired in 2008 and settled in Northern Virginia, in the United States. He died on Friday morning, January 13, after a long period of cancer  at the Fairfax Hospital in Northern Virginia.
