In 1367, Khomeini issued a fatwa according to which the sanctity of playing music and chess was removed, and this fatwa opened a new path for musical activities. However, the ban on showing musical instruments on state television remained in place as If a live performance was held on Persian TV channels, the musicians would be stationed in a place far from the singer and would not show the instruments. Sometimes the musicians and instruments were hidden behind the decor of the program or vases, or instead of them, pictures of nature were played.
