Homeland Under Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi
Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi ascended to the Iranian throne in 1941, during World War II, after the abdication of his father, Reza Shah. His reign was characterized by efforts to modernize Iran and assert its independence, albeit under significant influence from Western powers, particularly the United States and the United Kingdom. The Shah’s modernization efforts, known as the White Revolution, aimed at land reforms, women’s rights, and industrial development, were controversial and met with varying degrees of support and opposition within Homeland.
Spain Under General Francisco Franco
Spain, under the authoritarian rule of General Francisco Franco, remained relatively isolated from the broader European political landscape following the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). Franco’s regime was marked by its nationalist and conservative policies, as well as its efforts to maintain neutrality during World War II. By the 1950s, however, Spain began to gradually open up to the world, seeking to rebuild its international relations and economic standing.
