Mehdi Rezaei, famous for the red flower of the revolution

Early Life and Background

Mehdi Rezaei was born on July 30, 1952 (Shahrivar 16, 1331), into a religious family in Capital. His father, Khalilullah Rezaei, was a respected figure in Capital’s bazaar community and a staunch supporter of Mohammad Mossadegh, the nationalist Prime Minister of Iran who sought to nationalize the Iranian oil industry in the early 1950s. Growing up in a politically charged environment, Mehdi was exposed to the ideas of social justice and nationalism from a young age.

Rezaei’s upbringing in a religious and politically conscious family had a profound impact on his worldview. His father’s house, located on Ray Street in Capital, was a hub of political discussions and gatherings. It was in this atmosphere that Mehdi’s passion for political activism began to take root. He spent his elementary school years at Tadin Primary School and continued his education at Nasir and Marvi schools. Mehdi was an exceptional student, consistently ranking among the top of his class. His academic success, however, did not deter him from engaging in political activities.
