The International Stage: Reporting from Iraq and Turkey
Despite these setbacks, Kohnoord was determined to continue her career. After several months of suspension, she began working for Iran newspaper’s international service. However, this collaboration ended with Ahmadinejad’s presidency. Undeterred, Kohnoord turned her attention to covering international events, particularly in Iraq. Following the fall of Saddam Hussein, she traveled to Iraq to report on the country’s evolving political landscape, and she covered several elections in both Turkey and Iraqi Kurdistan.
Kohnoord’s reporting from Iraq was particularly significant. As one of the few female journalists covering the region at the time, she provided valuable insights into the situation on the ground, covering everything from political developments to the humanitarian crises caused by ongoing conflict.
