Nafiseh Kohnavard’s evolution

Joining BBC Farsi and Reporting on Key Regional Events

Kohnoord’s career reached new heights when she joined BBC Persian Television. Her first three years with the BBC were spent in Turkey, where she reported on major events, including the devastating Van earthquake and the ongoing conflict between Turkey and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). Her reporting on the PKK negotiations was especially noteworthy, as it highlighted the delicate balance of power between Turkey, the PKK, and regional stakeholders.

During this period, Kohnoord also covered the early stages of the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 countries, providing critical analysis of the diplomatic efforts to address Iran’s nuclear program. Her work for BBC Farsi allowed her to reach a broader audience, further establishing her as a leading journalist on Middle Eastern affairs.
