Nafiseh Kohnoord said about choosing journalism as a career: “The day I told my parents that I was determined to become a journalist, I faced a strong reaction from my mother, who believed that I was constantly jumping from one branch to another. My family was not satisfied with me staying in Capital and they preferred me to go back to Urmia and work with my father in the factory that he had just started. In the end, I did not give in and insisted that I should stay and work in Capital. This war continued until the publication of my first article about Turkey in Hamshahri newspaper, but with the publication of my first article in Hamshahri newspaper, which was about Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his rise for the elections. That was the time, this tension disappeared and gave way to the support of the family.”
