Less seen pictures of Fereydoun Shahbazian

Contribution to Film Music

Shahbazian’s foray into composing for films began in the 1960s. His ability to create evocative soundscapes made him a sought-after composer for Iranian cinema. After the Islamic Revolution, during the 1980s, restrictions on vocal music and singers pushed him to focus on instrumental compositions. This shift allowed him greater creative freedom, particularly in film and television soundtracks, which were less affected by censorship.

Among his notable works are the soundtracks for the films Avar directed by Siros Alvand, Shir Sangi by Masoud Jafari Jozani, and Paizan by Rasoul Sadr Ameli. He also composed memorable scores for the series Cherry Orchard directed by Majid Beheshti, Hiva by Rasoul Malaqlipour, and Expulsions by Masoud Dehnamaki. His compositions were lauded for their emotional depth and ability to enhance the narrative, earning him numerous accolades at both domestic and international film festivals.
