High-ranking political and military figures at Razini and Moghiseh’s funeral



Ali Razini (June 1332[2] – January 19, 1403) was an Iranian cleric and judge, and the head of Branch 41 of the Supreme Court. He was appointed as the Revolutionary Prosecutor of Tehran in 1984 after the dismissal of Asadollah Lajevardi. His other credentials include the chairmanship of the Armed Forces Judicial Organization and the chairmanship of the Administrative Justice Court. He was killed in a shooting at the Tehran Palace of Justice on Saturday morning, January 19, 1403.[3][4]

Life and background
Ali Razini was born in Razan, Hamadan, in 1984 to a religious family. In 1978, Razini became the principal of Haqqani School by order of Ali Ghoddoosi. He entered the judiciary in 1980 and was a judge of the Tehran Revolutionary Court. After the demonstrations of June 20, 1988, he became the head of the Revolutionary Court of Khorasan Province and issued severe sentences against members and supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran.

In 1984, after Asadollah Lajevardi was dismissed from the Tehran Prosecutor’s Office, he replaced him. He was then appointed by Seyyed Abdolkarim Mousavi Ardebili to head the Armed Forces Judicial Organization. In 1987, Ayatollah Khomeini appointed him as the Sharia judge of the Special Court for Clergy and in 1988, he was appointed as the head of the Special Courts for War Crimes. In addition, he was the Chief Justice of Tehran Province from 1994 to 1999, the head of the Administrative Court from 1984 to 1999, the representative of Hamadan Province in the fourth term of the Assembly of Experts of the Supreme Leader (2006–2015), the head of the Special Court for Clergy from 1987 to 2012, and the legal assistant to the head of the Judiciary.[5][6] In his fifth term, he was denied election to the Assembly of Experts.[6] Mohammad Ali Najafi’s appeal case was sent to the branch under Razini’s supervision.
