Work in Cinema and Television
From 1967 to 1969, Karimi expanded his work to television, creating a television series before transitioning to cinema. He directed and acted in several films, including Dareshkechi and Mahalel. He personally favored Dareshkechi over his other films. However, Mahalel attracted significant controversy, prompting a review by Morteza Motahari in Zan Rooz magazine.
Karimi used satire to critique superstitious beliefs deeply embedded in Iranian society. His ability to blend humor with social commentary made his films both entertaining and thought-provoking.
