Akhavan Sales received significant recognition for his contributions to Persian literature. He was the winner of the first edition of the Fajr International Poetry Festival in the national and patriotic section, a testament to his influence and enduring legacy.
Later Years and International Recognition
In 1990, Akhavan Sales traveled outside Iran for the first and only time, visiting Germany, England, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and France at the invitation of the House of World Cultures in Berlin. Wherever he went, he was received with great admiration and respect, a testament to his impact on Persian literature and culture.
Tragically, later that year, he suffered a heart attack and passed away on September 24, 1990, in Tehran. His body was laid to rest at the Ferdowsi Mausoleum in Toos, a fitting tribute to a poet who was deeply connected to Iran’s literary heritage.
