Parviz Yahaghi, a renowned Persian violinist, once recalled an experience with Mahjoubi. Yahaghi had composed a piece called “O Omid Del Man Koja’i” and provided sheet music to the orchestra members. Since Mahjoubi could not read the Western notation, he asked Yahaghi to play the piece on the violin. Mahjoubi then jotted down his own notation on the back of a cigar box and proceeded to play the piece flawlessly—better than all the orchestra members on their first attempt. This anecdote highlights his extraordinary musical memory and talent.
The Radio Era and “Golha” Program
With the inauguration of Iran’s national radio, Mahjoubi was among the first musicians invited to join the Radio Music Commission. He was appointed as the leader of the second group of the radio orchestra and played a crucial role in shaping the sound of Persian radio music.
