The best musician in the history of Persian music has passed away

On some of these trips, Mahjoubi was accompanied by prominent musicians such as Morteza Ney Davood, Abolhassan Saba, and Abdulhossein Shahnazi. Some surviving recordings feature their violin performances harmonizing with Mahjoubi’s piano, creating a rich and unique blend of Persian and Western influences. Additionally, many of his recordings include the voices of celebrated singers such as Jalal Taj Isfahani, Adib Khansari, and Badi Zadeh. Despite the passage of nearly 90 years, these recordings continue to captivate listeners with their freshness and emotional depth.

Among Mahjoubi’s most remarkable works are two solo piano recordings in the Shoor and Afshari modes. These performances showcase the peak of his technical prowess and deep understanding of Persian music. In addition to his playing skills, Mahjoubi was also a gifted composer. One of his most famous compositions is “Man Az Roz Aval Divaneh Bodam,” which features poetry by Rahi Moeiri and vocals by the renowned singer Ostad Banan. Mahjoubi frequently collaborated with Rahi Moeiri, setting his poetry to music in many of his compositions.
