From ancient times, Jews have established organizations wherever they have been to manage cultural and religious affairs and teach religious principles. Of course, none of these institutions and laws have been in conflict with the laws of the Iranian governments. The most important institution of today’s Iranian Jews is the Tehran Jewish Association, and all other associations are governed under the supervision of this association; which is governed according to the laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran and under the auspices of the Endowments and Charity Organization, but is independently governed by its board of directors.
The Jewish population today is estimated to be about thirty thousand people, living mainly in the cities of Shiraz, Isfahan, Rasht, Hamedan, Kermanshah, Yazd, Kerman, Rafsanjan, Sirjan, Borujerd, and … with scattered residents in other cities.
