Later, Asemani also contributed to Googoosh’s next album, “Manifest”, as both composer and arranger. In it, he and Googoosh performed the hauntingly poetic “Shenasnameh” together.
Their final major collaboration came in 2008 with “Shab Sepid”, released after a three-year hiatus. The album was warmly received and demonstrated the deep emotional and musical synergy between the two.
Collaboration with Shohreh Solati
After Googoosh, Shohreh Solati became Mehrdad Asemani’s most frequent vocal partner. Their collaboration spans 14 songs, four of which remain unreleased. Notable tracks include:
-
“Paygham” (lyrics by Masoud Fardmanesh, arrangement by Manouchehr Cheshmazar)
-
“Nameh” (lyrics by Fardmanesh, arrangement by Amir Badakhsh), partially performed as a duet
-
“Nesozi”
-
“Harki Asheghe”
These works highlight Mehrdad’s ability to write emotionally resonant melodies that complement Shohreh’s powerful vocals. Together, they toured extensively, captivating audiences across Europe and North America.
Collaboration with Sattar and Mahasti
In 2000 (1379 in the Iranian calendar), Mehrdad composed the entire “Gol Gandom” album for Sattar and Mahasti. The poetic content was provided by Alireza Meybodi, Homayoun Hoshyarnejad, and Masoud Amini, with arrangements by Cheshmazar, Shubert Avakian, and Saeed Ghorbani. One standout song, “Boye Noon, Boye Khak, Boye Gandom”, became a touching tribute to homeland and memory, performed as a duet by Mahasti and Sattar.
