Sidenotes from the commemoration of the martyrs of authority

Judiciary Chief Ejei: “We Shall Not Be Intimidated”

Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, speaking after the President, took a firmer tone. As the head of the Judiciary and a veteran of Iran’s intelligence system, he underscored the role of the martyrs in preserving internal security and called on institutions to remain vigilant against foreign plots and domestic corruption.

“Let it be known that the blood of our martyrs is a red line no enemy shall cross. The assassinations of our heroes—whether by drones, car bombs, or economic sabotage—will only strengthen our resolve.”

Ejei referenced recent judicial efforts to root out economic misconduct and protect public trust. He assured families of martyrs that justice would remain uncompromising and that the judiciary would continue to prosecute those who abuse public office or collaborate with foreign intelligence agencies.

Qalibaf: A Revolutionary Discourse

The third major speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, brought the tone back to the revolutionary origins of the Islamic Republic. As a former IRGC commander and current head of the legislature, Qalibaf evoked the symbolism of Karbala and framed Iran’s ongoing regional resistance as part of the martyrdom tradition.

“In every drop of blood spilled on this path, we hear the echo of Hussein’s call: Is there anyone to help me? And we answer—yes, millions stand ready.”
