Expansion into Education and Healthcare
While Mehdi’s business successes were noteworthy, it was his philanthropic endeavors that cemented his legacy. He believed that true success was measured not just in wealth but in the positive impact one could have on society.
Over the course of his lifetime, Mehdi Ebrahimi Daryan financed the construction of over 750 schools, hospitals, and clinics across Iran. These projects were often undertaken in underserved areas, where educational and medical facilities were either lacking or nonexistent.
One of his most significant contributions was the establishment of the Shahid Hasheminejad Hospital — a healthcare institution that provided critical services to the people of Tehran and beyond. His focus was always on accessibility, ensuring that the less privileged had access to essential services regardless of their financial status.
Business Success: The Rise of Yaran Daryan Supermarkets
As Tehran’s population grew, so did the demand for modern retail spaces. Sensing the shifting market trends, Mehdi launched the Yaran Daryan supermarket chain. Unlike traditional bazaars, these supermarkets offered a new shopping experience — organized, accessible, and catering to a wide range of consumer needs. The venture was a pioneering move in Iran’s retail sector, and Yaran Daryan quickly became a trusted household name.
