Anti-Corruption Efforts and Civil Society Work Tavakoli was a pioneer in Iran’s anti-corruption landscape. He founded the news website ALF and the civil society organization Integrity and Justice Watch, through which he pursued accountability in various sectors, especially the pharmaceutical industry. As chairman of the organization, he filed public complaints against officials, including Rasoul Dinarvand, the former head of Iran’s Food and Drug Administration, alleging bribery and corruption. The investigation eventually led to dismissals within the ministry.

He also chaired the board of trustees of the Moalem Boys’ Cultural and Educational Complex, a civic institution established in 1980.

The Case of Sattar Beheshti Tavakoli took a notable stance in the case of Sattar Beheshti, a blogger who died under suspicious circumstances while in police custody. While foreign media and governments raised concerns, Tavakoli urged Iran’s parliament to investigate and publicly address the matter. He called on the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee to pursue transparency, highlighting the importance of governmental accountability.
