Education and Military Service
Rambod’s formal education began at Nizam Elementary School, where he entered in the sixth grade. From there, he pursued further training at Iran’s famed Artillery Academy, a prestigious military institution where cadets were groomed for leadership in the armed forces. Graduating with the rank of second lieutenant, Rambod entered the army at the age of 20, assuming command roles that aligned with his artillery specialization.
Between 1939 and 1942, he served as the commander of an artillery regiment, overseeing operations during a turbulent period marked by both domestic transitions and global conflict. Even though Iran maintained a position of nominal neutrality during World War II, its territory became strategically significant—particularly after the Anglo‑Soviet invasion of Iran in 1941. Rambod’s service in those years required careful discipline and adaptability.
In 1942, after three years of regimental command, he made the conscious decision to resign from military service. This shift marked a new chapter in his life—one that would move from arms and discipline to commerce, politics, and public affairs. His military experience would nonetheless continue to inform his leadership style, rigor, and organizational sense.
