Farshchian paid special attention to details and to religious and cultural concepts in his works. Inspiration from classical Persian poetry—especially the poems of Hafez, Rumi, and Saadi—can be seen in many of his paintings.
Works such as The Guarantee of the Deer, The Hardest Test, Ghadir Khum, Rami Jamra, and The Story of Prophet Abraham are among his most famous pieces, and many of them have been presented as official gifts by Iranian officials to foreign dignitaries.
Senior Iranian officials, including First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, expressed their condolences in messages on the passing of Mr. Farshchian.
The Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei, had previously praised Mr. Farshchian’s painting The Evening of Ashura and stated that he sheds tears every time he sees the artwork. The artist’s body is to be transferred from the United States to Isfahan and buried next to the tomb of Saeb Tabrizi.
