Parviz Hejazi, pre-revolutionary cinema producer and owner of “Baccarat Cabaret”

Parallel to his cabaret ventures, Hejazi founded the Apollo record company, which released popular songs and promoted emerging singers. Record companies in pre-revolutionary Iran played a critical role in shaping the music industry. They not only produced vinyl records but also acted as promoters for live performances in cabarets and cinemas.

The Apollo label became known for producing works by singers who blended Persian melodies with modern rhythms. For Hejazi, the record company was a natural extension of his cabaret empire—it allowed him to give his protégés a permanent platform, spreading their music far beyond the walls of Baccarat. This dual role—cabaret impresario and record producer—cemented his reputation as one of the key figures in Tehran’s entertainment world.
