The history of MAHAK can be divided into six distinct periods, each reflecting both the internal evolution of the organization and broader social changes in Iran and beyond.
Period One: Establishment and Launching (1991–1996)
In the early years, MAHAK focused on laying the groundwork for its mission. Its workers and volunteers were stationed in seven key hospitals in Tehran: Martyrs of Tajrish, Children’s Hospital, Hazrat Ali Asghar (AS), Children’s Medical Center, Imam Khomeini Hospital, the Cancer Institute, and Bahrami Children’s Hospital. Here, they provided direct assistance to children and families—covering medical expenses, offering counseling, and supplying basic needs.
The philosophy was simple but revolutionary: no child should be denied cancer treatment due to financial constraints. This period established the credibility of MAHAK in the medical community and among the public. The growing number of donors demonstrated widespread trust in the organization.
