Parviz Khosravani was born on October 22, 1922, in Mahallat County, a city in Markazi Province of Iran. His family background provided him with both privilege and responsibility. His father, Mirza Hashem Mahallat, was a wealthy and influential man in the region, whose wealth gave his sons the opportunity to pursue careers in politics, the military, and administration.
Parviz was the youngest among his brothers: Shahab al-Din, Morteza, Khosrow, and Ataullah. Each of them played notable roles in Iran’s modern history. Shahab al-Din and Morteza pursued careers in military administration, Khosrow was involved in bureaucratic and cultural affairs, and Ataullah Khosravani became a powerful political figure, serving as Minister of Labor under Amir Abbas Hoveida’s cabinet in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Raised in such an environment, Parviz naturally followed a military career path, influenced by the nationalistic and monarchist ethos of his family. His education prepared him for the officer academy, which he entered at a young age, marking the beginning of a career that would intertwine military service with politics and sports leadership.
