Biography of Farnaz Salmani, costume designer and new judge of the “Woman of the Day” program

Her family was supportive of her creative instincts but encouraged her to pursue a more traditional field of study first. After completing her early education in Tehran, Salmani enrolled in an engineering program at a local university. However, despite her academic success, she found herself drawn irresistibly to the world of fashion and design — a world that, in her words, “felt like home, not a hobby.”

This inner calling eventually led her to change her career path. After completing part of her engineering studies, she decided to formally study fashion design, taking professional courses in Tehran and later attending short-term workshops in Istanbul and Milan, which exposed her to the international fashion ecosystem.

Family and Creative Partnership

Farnaz’s sister, Faryal Salmani, has also built a successful career — but in a related field. A professional makeup artist, Faryal manages the Chilai Beauty Salon in Dubai and Tehran, known for luxury bridal and beauty services. The two sisters’ creative bond has become one of the cornerstones of Farnaz’s brand identity.

They frequently collaborate on projects that merge fashion design and makeup artistry, particularly in bridal fashion and photoshoots. Farnaz handles the garments and visual design, while Faryal oversees styling and makeup. Their collaborations have produced stunning visual campaigns for Iranian and Middle Eastern magazines and online platforms.

This synergy has strengthened both sisters’ reputations, giving them recognition not only among private clients but also within the creative industry networks in Iran, Turkey, and the UAE.
