Biography of Farnaz Salmani, costume designer and new judge of the “Woman of the Day” program

The Birth of a Brand: Establishing the Farnaz Salmani Fashion House

The year 2012 was a pivotal moment in Farnaz Salmani’s professional journey. At the age of 24, she launched her first fashion house and personal brand in Tehran, marking her official entry into the competitive world of haute couture. Her focus was primarily on evening and bridal wear, two categories that allowed her to blend luxury design with deep cultural symbolism.

Her early designs stood out for their distinctive use of Persian embroidery, handcrafted lace, and subtle color palettes, which were rare in Tehran’s then-nascent luxury fashion scene. Many of her designs drew inspiration from Iranian miniature paintings, Qajar-era costumes, and ancient Persian motifs, but reinterpreted them with modern silhouettes suitable for international audiences.

By 2014, Salmani’s designs had started appearing at elite weddings and private events in Tehran, leading to an expanding client base that included celebrities, socialites, and diplomats’ families. Word of mouth quickly turned her brand into one of the most sought-after names among Iranian women who wanted both elegance and authenticity.

Expansion Beyond Borders: Istanbul and Global Exposure

After several years of success in Iran, Farnaz Salmani took a major step toward globalization. In 2018, she opened a second boutique in Nişantaşı, one of Istanbul’s most fashionable and cosmopolitan districts. This strategic move not only connected her to the thriving Turkish fashion market but also brought her closer to international buyers, models, and media outlets.

The Istanbul boutique marked a new phase of experimentation for Salmani. She introduced new sub-brands, including “Ferani” and “Off Shoulder House.”
