Theater and Cultural Transformation Before and After the Revolution
At the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, Kasbi participated in several important plays, collaborating with major figures of Iranian theater such as Jafar Vali and Manijeh Moamedi. Among the productions he performed in were:
-
A Long Play (directed by Jafar Vali),
-
Medaa (directed by Manijeh Moamedi),
-
Moonlight for the Disadvantaged (directed by Shahnaz Jaberizadeh),
-
Scarecrows in the Night, Carol, Travelers, Sing in the Fog, The Best Father in the World, and The Spider.
These experiences established him as a dedicated performer with a strong sense of ensemble work and narrative rhythm.
Kasbi was still a student when the 1979 Iranian Revolution brought about sweeping cultural, political, and artistic changes. The revolution disrupted but also redefined the role of artists. Many performers from the pre-revolution period were forced to adapt to new ideological and institutional frameworks. Kasbi, who had strong moral and cultural convictions, became deeply involved in the emerging Islamic cultural institutions that sought to redefine Iranian art in line with revolutionary values.
