Tribute to Ali Nasirian on the 60th anniversary of Sanglaj Theater

Ali Nasirian (born 5 Bahman 1313 / January 25, 1935) is one of the most revered figures in the history of Iranian performing arts—a distinguished actor, playwright, and director whose name has become synonymous with the evolution of modern Iranian theater and cinema. With a career spanning over seven decades, Nasirian’s presence has graced the stage, the silver screen, and television with an authenticity and depth rarely equaled. His work bridges the gap between traditional Iranian performance forms and contemporary dramatic expression, making him both a preserver and an innovator of the nation’s artistic heritage.

In 1380 (2001), Ali Nasirian was officially recognized as an “Enduring Figure of Iranian Acting” and received the First-Class Artistic Medal from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, a distinction that marked his lifelong contribution to Iranian art and culture. Two decades later, at the remarkable age of 88, Nasirian achieved another historic milestone when he won the Crystal Simorgh for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 41st Fajr Film Festival (1401/2023) for his role in Seven Orange Springs (Haft Bahar Narenj). With this win, he became the oldest recipient of the Simorgh Award, reaffirming his continued vitality and influence in Iranian cinema.
