After completing high school, she moved to Tehran to study cinema and later traveled to the United States, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in film directing. This international academic experience broadened her perspective and exposed her to diverse cinematic styles—from European realism to Hollywood narrative techniques. Her education abroad not only refined her technical understanding of cinema but also gave her a deeper appreciation for storytelling as a tool of cultural dialogue.
Her studies were not limited to directing; she also engaged in courses on acting theory, screenwriting, and production design, disciplines that helped her develop a holistic understanding of film as an art form. These experiences shaped her later performances, which often combined intellectual depth with emotional authenticity.
The Beginning of an Acting Career
Mitra Hajjar’s first step into the world of art came in 1995 (1375 in the Iranian calendar) when she was introduced to the television industry by the late producer Masoud Rassam, a prominent figure known for discovering and nurturing young talents. Her debut was not as an actress but as a television host. She appeared in a ten-part cultural program titled “Gapi mit Ehrendi” (Talking with Artists), broadcast on the JamJam network. The show introduced her to the rhythms of the camera, the art of public speaking, and the world of Iranian media.
