The Tragic Accident: A Sudden Blow to a Public Life
The incident that led to the deaths of Fatemeh Heydari, Hasana, and Mohammad Subhan occurred on a quiet Sunday afternoon, December 9, 1404. The Tara vehicle carrying the family was traveling from Tehran toward Semnan. Near Ivanaki, the car collided at high speed with a stationary Benz truck parked on the roadside. The impact was severe.
Fatemeh Heydari lost her life instantly. Four other passengers—including the driver, Saqab Esfahani’s father-in-law, and the couple’s three children—were rushed to Garmsar Hospital before being transferred to Tehran for specialized care. Over the following days, the situation evolved into a heartbreaking sequence of loss.
The 12-year-old daughter, Hasana, suffered extensive brain injuries and was soon declared brain-dead. With immense emotional strain, Vice President Saqab Esfahani consented to the donation of her organs to patients in need—an act that deeply moved the public and was widely praised by physicians, journalists, and social commentators.
Soon after, Mohammad Subhan, the youngest of the children at age 9, succumbed to his injuries as well. The family’s surviving child, 11-year-old Ali, was hospitalized with fractures but survived.
